What We Do |
The Friends of the James Blackstone Memorial Library support the library through a variety of fundraising activities. Our major fundraiser is the annual book sale which takes place in the fall. The 2013 sale will take place on September 19 (Friends and Dealers Preview Night), September 20, 21, and 22. ![]() The Friends use the proceeds of fundraising to support children's programs, leases, museum passes, and many other activities that are valued by library users. We sponsor a yearly lecture series as well as a monthly lecture series from September to June. Lecture topics have included "World War II in Branford" presented by Jane Bouley, "Long Island Sound in History" presented by Gaddis Smith, "I Got Rhythm: Classic American Jazz Singers" presented by Nicole Biamonte and "Mark Twain in Hartford" presented by Mark Hotchkiss. |
