We Have Apps and Lots More.
The Youth Services Department currently has access to 20 iPads filled with kid, teen and adult friendly apps, eBooks and games. These iPads are meant for in-house use only; meaning you cannot check them out because the library needs them for children’s, teen and adult programs. When we are not using the iPads for programming anyone is welcome to check one out for personal use or exploration with their children as long as the iPads remain within the library.
Age appropriate apps:
- Engage children on a multi-sensory level.
- Help to develop fine motor, language and cognitive skills.
- Promote enjoyment of learning through collaboration and discovery.

Right now the Youth Services Department is offering a couple of different iPad based programs every month.
The first, Maker Mondays, is meant for teens in middle school and up. This program takes place every other Monday and literary opens the doors to our MakerLab for budding creators! The iPads are accessible during each lab and contain 3D design apps, coding games as well as music/video editing software. These same apps are accessible when kid and teens checkout the iPads to be used in-house.
The Youth Service Department has also created a series of MakerLab half day and Saturday morning programs for elementary school aged children along with their caregivers. These program introduce the MakerLab to younger children with the help of adults. During these sessions the iPads are used to create stop-motion videos, virtual Lego building as well as coding games. We also introduce families to other parts of the lab so that they can learn to make together.
