Walsh Intermediate School Summer Reading

What’s Cooking for the Summer of 2014?

The Walsh Intermediate School Summer Reading List is for students entering 5 thru 8th grade. It includes books that meet students’ different interests and reading levels. Many of the books have been selected by Connecticut students and teachers for award nominations. This summer students are required to read at least 5 books.  One book relates to Language Arts, one book relates to Social Studies and one book relates to Science. All 3 categories provide choices so you are sure to find something you are interested in. The library has also done their best to provide multiple copies of these books including titles in CD and eBook format.

The remaining two required books are FREE choice books that can be selected through the online reader, myOn or any other source like: your library, local bookstore, or book shelf. If you need a little help when it comes to your FREE choice book have a look at the ALSC’s Summer Reading Suggestions 6 thru 8 link.

To see the full list click on the Walsh Summer Reading link. All items can be placed on hold from home or through the library with an up to date library card and the library also has a separate Summer Reading section with multiple titles in the Youth Services Department. Summer reading books circulate for a total 2 weeks and you can only checkout 2 at a time. Items cannot be renewed. If the title you are looking for is not on the Summer Reading shelf please ask someone in the Youth Services Department. We may have an extra copy waiting for you behind the circulation desk.
