This Summer we are Going to Fly High!
Sign up for Every Hero Has a Story.
Miss Mary and Miss Carly are following this year’s super hero theme by offering a “high flying” program that allows children to track their reading online, write reviews and view other users’ reading lists in order to grab book recommendations. Be sure to check our calendar for information about exciting summer reading programs that will have everyone feeling super!
Families are still able to check-in weekly for their small prize/stickers and our weekly gift certificate prize drawings will be pulled at random through the summer reading website every Friday afternoon. Winners will be notified by telephone.
This summer participants can also set reading goals for themselves; this will be part of the registration process. When they have reached their particular goal the summer reading website will notify them to head to the Blackstone where they will be able to see our 3D printer in action and choose between a couple of pre-made 3D designs!
We are also really excited to announce that our additional summer reading incentive will be back, provided by local artist Joe Kobylanski and Branford Public Schools. The school district wanted to give their students a summer reading challenge as well as a physical representation of the number books read throughout the community. In order to encompass both, Mr. Joe created a magnificent marble maze that children will be able to race when they check in each week with their online reading log. For each book they have read they will receive one marble to place on any of the wooden maze tracks! Our hope is that we will be able to fill the maze’s plastics columns by summers end BUT we will need YOUR help in order to do so.
To watch our marble maze grow simply Like us on facebook; each week we will post a picture of the maze to see how much our community has read, SO get ready to watch our marble columns grow and keep reading in order to do so!
Looking for a good book? Head to our Books & More page for a combination of different recommended reading lists. It just takes one good book to ignite a spark.
