2017 Summer Reading Program: Build a Better World

This Summer we are Going to Make a Difference!

The Youth Services Department is mixing up our summer reading program by pushing the traditional reading log aside and creating an interactive game board that will ask participants to complete a series of challenges throughout the summer – some will be reading based, while others may ask you to attend a program, write a poem or even listen to a book on CD – reinforcing that we can learn in a variety of ways.

Participants will check-in weekly to roll the dice and move their game piece along the board, unlocking new activities all while getting closer to the finish line. Once you reach the end your game piece will be thrown into a grab bag prize drawing that will be pulled once a week. Winners will be contacted by phone.

If you complete the game board before summer reading ends, it’s okay, you can start all over again! Your gaming experience will depend on how you roll so there will always new challenges to complete PLUS the Youth Services staff will be changing up the challenges throughout summer months.

Those that complete the game board will be invited to take part in an end of summer reading celebration – pizza included.

Be sure to check our calendar for information about exciting summer reading programs that will have everyone building all summer long!
