Technology at the Blackstone Library

Computers:
The library has computers for public use in both the Reference area and the Youth Services department. The computers have Internet access, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Excel. You can save your work to a CD or USB flash drive. Printing is available in black and white ($.25 per page) and color ($.75 per page).

Wireless Internet is available on all three floors of the library.


eBooks and Audiobooks:
For those patrons who own their own ereader, iPad, iPhone, iPod, MP3 player or Android device we have a collection of eBooks and audiobooks available for download from our catalog. Get downloading help here.

Nook Touch, Kindle touch, Original Nook - ask at the Reference desk
Original Nook with juvenile books - ask at the Youth Services desk Magnifier:
Optelec Reader - located in the Reference Department (donated by Jim Vlock)
  • Magnify text (up to 70x's)
  • Read newspapers, books, write checks
  • Look at details in photographs
Mobile Catalog:
To access your library account or the catalog from your smart phone, check out Library Anywhere at http://www.libanywhere.com/m/143 or scan the QR code below from your phone's camera (a barcode reader app is required). iPhone and Android users can also download an app to access the site, but it is not required to use the service.



Scanner:
BookScan Station - located in the Reference Department
  • Scan material as a pdf or searchable pdf, editable word document, jpeg or tiff file
  • Scan in black and white or color
  • Scan in standard or high quality
  • Save to a flash drive or send an email
