Maker Mondays: Middle School and Up (Auditorium)

Blackstone Library offers a variety of high and low tech opportunities to express yourself through 3D design, digital art, web production, conductive sewing, video production and circuit creation!

Every other week we will introduce a different maker component and will then work on solo projects or together to create something tangible that you can then continue from home.

Every other week participants will work together to take on a different digital component that will introduce them to ways in which they can be makers! SCRATCH is 100% free and accessible online so children can continue learning/making from home.

The SAT or the ACT? Standardized Testing Options & the College Admissions Timeline: Presented by Bulldog Tutors (Lucy Hammer Room)

Join Jas Jernaill, the Managing Director of Bulldog Tutors, for a discussion on successfully navigating the university admissions process. Topics will include standardized testing options, how to build a successful college admissions application, and how the admissions timeline differs for aspiring student athletes. The talk will run for about 30 minutes with 15 minutes of questions to follow.
This talk is appropriate for juniors and sophomores, as seniors will be at the tail end of this process come December.

Munchies and a Matinee – Movie for All Ages (Auditorium)

Origami Electra Workshop – For Families or Groups in 5th Grade and Up (Auditorium)

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Origami Electra, or modular origami is a paper-folding technique, which uses two or more sheets of paper to create a larger more complex structure than would be possible with just a single sheet. Each individual paper is folded as a single unit and then connected by flaps to create an intricate 3D design.

In this session families or a small group of friends will work together to create a 3D lantern, lights included! Each family/group will leave with one lantern to share.

All the necessary materials will be provided along with instructions. Previous paper folding skills are not required.
